LEVELS OF ENGLISH
A1 Elementary:
This is the first level of English in the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).
At this level, students will be able to:
Use common expressions and simple phrases
Introduce themselves and others
Ask and answer questions about personal information such as hometown, etc.
Interact in a simple way if the other person talks slowly and clearly
A1 Principiantes:
Es el primer nivel de inglés en el Marco Común Europeo de Referencia para las Lenguas (MCERL). Se considera el primer paso para aprenderlo.
En este nivel, el alumno puede:
Usar y entender vocabulario y estructuras gramaticales básicas para comunicarse en situaciones cotidianas

A2 Pre intermediate:
This level of English corresponds to a basic understanding of the English language.
At this level, students will be able to:
Use elementary vocabulary and commonly-used expressions
Communicate in everyday situations using simple, direct exchanges of information
Use sentences and expressions related to family, shopping, and employment
Describe aspects of their past, environment, and immediate needs in simple terms
A2 is the entry level for many popular certifications, such as Cambridge.
A2 Pre intermediate:
Este nivel de inglés corresponde a la comprensión básica del idioma.
En este nivel, el alumno puede:
Utilizar vocabulario básico y expresiones que se utilizan comunmente
Comunicarse en situaciones cotidianas intercambiando información simple y directa
Entender oraciones y expresiones relacionadas a la familia, las compras, el trabajo
Describir aspectos de su pasado, hablar sobre el clima y de sus necesidades inmediatas.
B1 Intermediate:
This is the third level in the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).
At the B1 level, students will be able to:
Be able to identify and comprehend the main points of clear texts on familiar topics
Handle most common situations on a trip to an English-speaking country
Produce simple, organized texts on familiar topics
Describe experiences, events, wishes, and aspirations
Express their opinions and plans
B1 intermediate:
Se caracteriza por la independencia del usuario:
En este nivel, el alumno puede:
Comunicarse sin esfuerzo con hablantes nativos
Entender la mayoría de los textos claros sobre temas familiares
Desenvolverse en la mayoría de las situaciones que pueden surgir en un viaje a zonas donde se habla el idioma
Producir textos sencillos y coherentes sobre temas familiares o de interés personal
Escribir experiencias, acontecimientos, deseos y aspiraciones
B2 Upper Intermediate:
This is the fourth level of English in the CEFR.
At the level, students will be able to:
Identify and comprehend the main ideas of complex texts on a variety of topics, including technical discussions
Interact with native speakers fluently and spontaneously
Produce clear, detailed text on a wide range of subjects
Explain a viewpoint on a topical issue, including the advantages and disadvantages of various options
B2 Nivel intermedio-avanzado:
En este nivel, el alumno puede:
Comunicarse con fluidez y sin esfuerzo con hablantes nativos.
Comprender las ideas principales de textos complejos, incluso si son técnicos, dentro del campo de especialización
Producir textos claros y detallados sobre diversos temas
Explicar un punto de vista sobre un tema de discusión, presentando los pros y los contras de varias opciones
Entender la totalidad de cualquier película, programa de radio o de televisión, así como textos escritos
C1 Advanced:
A C1 level of English allows for a full range of functionality at work or in an academic setting. The C1 level would allow for full autonomy in a native English-speaking country.
According to the official CEFR guidelines, someone at the C1 level in English:
Can understand a wide range of demanding, longer texts, and recognize implicit meaning.
Can express ideas fluently and spontaneously without much obvious searching for expressions.
Can use language flexibly and effectively for social, academic and professional purposes.
Can produce clear, well-structured, detailed text on complex subjects, showing controlled use of organizational patterns, connectors and cohesive devices.
C1 Advanced:El nivel C1 permite un rango amplio de funcionalidad en el aspecto académico y profesional.
En este nivel, el alumno puede:Tener completa autonomía en el uso del idioma en un país de habla inglesa.
Expresar ideas con fluidez y espontaneidad
Utilizar el idioma con flexibilidad y efectividad en su vida profesional, académica y social
Escribir textos detallados, claros y bien estructurados sobre temas complejos.
A2 KEY Preparation:
A2 Key, formerly known as Cambridge English: Key (KET), is one of Cambridge English Certifications.
An A2 Key qualification is proof of your ability to use English to communicate in simple situations.
The exam tests all four English language skills – reading, writing, listening and speaking.
(I prefer the word comprehend instead of understand because I believe students will relate to it more easily since comprender is already in their vocabulary.
An A2 Key certificate shows that you can:
Understand and use basic phrases and expressions.
Understand simple written English.
Introduce yourself and answer basic questions about yourself.
Interact with English speakers at a basic level.
